SnapTik FAQ: Downloading TikTok Videos and Audio

Answers to common questions about downloading TikTok videos with SnapTik, including watermarks, supported links, file quality, and troubleshooting. To download a video, use the SnapTik downloader on the homepage.

Why do TikTok videos have a watermark?

TikTok adds the watermark when it renders a video for download or sharing, not when the video is stored. The watermark is a moving overlay containing the TikTok logo and the creator's username, composited on top of the frame at export time. The stored source file does not contain it. SnapTik retrieves that source file, which is why the clean MP4 has no logo burned into the picture.

Is it legal to download TikTok videos?

Downloading a video does not transfer any rights to it. The creator holds the copyright to their video, and the audio track often belongs to a separate rights holder. Saving a video for personal offline viewing is treated differently in most jurisdictions from republishing it, using it in an advertisement, or monetising it. TikTok's own Terms of Service also restrict how content from the platform may be used. Download only what you have the rights to use, or ask the creator for permission first. This is general information, not legal advice.

Does the creator know if I download their video?

No. SnapTik does not notify the creator, and TikTok does not report downloads made through third-party tools. Nothing appears in the creator's analytics as a result of using SnapTik.

Which TikTok links does SnapTik accept?

SnapTik accepts full video links copied from the TikTok share menu, for example tiktok.com/@username/video/1234567890. Short vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com links from the mobile app also work. Profile links, hashtag pages, and sound pages are not video links and will not process.

Can SnapTik download private TikTok videos?

No. A private video is not publicly retrievable, so there is no source file for SnapTik to fetch. The same applies to videos from private accounts, deleted videos, and videos restricted in your region. Friends-only videos also fail, because access depends on a TikTok login that SnapTik does not have.

What quality are the downloaded files?

SnapTik returns the source file as TikTok stores it. TikTok compresses every upload, so the download matches what the platform holds rather than the creator's original recording. A video shot in higher quality than TikTok's encoding limit cannot be recovered at that quality by any downloader.

Are there download limits?

SnapTik sets no limit on how many TikTok links you process. TikTok itself rate-limits repeated automated requests, so a long run of downloads in quick succession can cause temporary failures. Waiting a few minutes clears this.

Why is my TikTok download not working?

Most failures come from four causes: the link points to a private or deleted video, the copied text is a profile or sound page rather than a video, the link was truncated during copying, or TikTok is temporarily rate-limiting requests. Copy the link again from the share menu, paste the whole string, and retry. If a link that meets all of these still fails, send it to us through the contact page.

Does SnapTik work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. SnapTik runs in a mobile browser and needs no app. On iPhone, saved files land in the Files app, and you can move a video to Photos from there. On Android, files go to the browser's download folder. A browser add-on is available for desktop.

Which platforms does SnapTik support?

TikTok only. SnapTik does not process links from YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or any other platform.

How do I report a problem?

Send a message through the contact page. Include the TikTok link that failed and the browser you used, which makes the cause much faster to identify.
